The MEF is a global trade association representing all
participants in the mobile entertainment value chain interested
in driving the industry's evolution and commercial potential
through collaboration, consultation and promotional activities.
MEF is committed to reducing the barriers to entry into
the innovative mobile entertainment market, thereby encouraging
entry by new businesses and increasing competition and growth
to the benefit of all industry players and consumers.
MEF Objectives
- Advocacy and Outreach:
Promote the development of the mobile entertainment industry
through education, advocacy, support for critical industry
initiatives and outreach to the entertainment and telecommunications
industries, government, regulators, investors and analysts.
- Bring structure to a nascent, complex, fragmented
industry;
- Strive for a wider market understanding of common
challenges and issues;
- Tackle challenges impeding the industry's progress
via MEF initiatives; and
- Provide a consultative mechanism and a representational
vehicle that advances the industry's position with
external industry bodies and governmental institutions.
- Awareness Building:
Offer a platform for the mobile entertainment industry
to raise its public profile and promote its offerings
to the wide array of partners and clients who may benefit
from its opportunities.
- Represent ALL areas and interested parties working
in the global mobile entertainment industry;
Raise the industry's profile with industry analysts,
journalists and investors.
- Create a focal point for industry networking/analysis
within and between layers of the industry value chain;
and
- Recognize and applaud innovation and achievement.
- Setting Guidelines:
Facilitate the development of commercial standards
and best practices in order to support the spirit of interoperability,
open networks and open standards in the industry, facilitating
the multitude of terminals, protocols and applications.
- Set industry guidelines for the protection of consumers,
content owners, promoters and operators whilst facilitating
industry growth;
- Ratify existing and emerging standards where appropriate;
- Create required standards where necessary; and
- Cooperate and endorse the work of other initiatives
where specific industry concerns are already being
effectively addressed by other existing bodies
- Promote awareness of and compliance with applicable
competition/anti-trust and other relevant legal and
regulatory requirements.
